One of the greatest treasures of our faith is spiritual direction. Many people, however, feel that spiritual direction is only for clergy or “holy” people. It certainly is not! All of us are on a faith journey, so all of us need spiritual direction. What has been true over the centuries is that people need help to sort out where God might be in their story- their journey. This is where the practice of meeting with a good spiritual director comes in.
Spiritual direction involves a person coming to me as their director and being greeted in a safe place where they can share their story. As the director it is my blessing to be able to be an active listener, so that I can help a person point to the moments where God is present in their story.
I also offer group spiritual direction for small faith groups within parishes. Another alternative way to have spiritual direction is through electronic means of video chat. Contact me if you are interested in either of these.
I have been trained through a three-year preparation program through the Franciscan Spirituality Center in La Crosse, WI. There I received a certificate of completion in Spiritual Direction. I am always willing to meet with people one on one so that they can deepen their relationship with God. Meetings are at an agreeable time, usually once every four to six weeks. The Spiritual Direction relationship goes for as long as the person needs and feels a benefit. It is open to all ages from teens on up.
