The Last Words of Jesus Parish Mission

First Night- We Are a Broken People- Spiritual healing both for ourselves and for someone we love and care for is important. So tonight, invite a friend to check out the mission with you.

“My God, my God, why have you forsaken me?”

Second Night- Reconciliation- Let’s cleanse ourselves of sin. We must recognize the presence of sin in our lives. But we also know God is merciful and is ready to show that mercy. By giving ourselves the opportunity to participate in the Sacrament of Reconciliation, we have a chance through God’s grace to be with Him in paradise.

"Father, forgive them for they know not what they are doing."
“Today you will be with me in paradise.”

Third Night- Turning Our Lives Over to God. What needs do we have right now and how do we involve God in those needs? In other words what is our prayer? Are there people that we have relationships with, that help us bear the crosses we have but also help us become closer to God.

“I thirst.”
“Behold your son: behold your mother.”

Fourth Night- Turning Our Spirits Over to God. It’s not enough to turn our lives over to God. We have to give Him our spirits as well. We have to give Him our physical being, intellect, care, needs- everything. Jesus turned everything over to His Father and gives us an opportunity to share and be nourished for our journey. We do that first and foremost in the celebration of the Eucharist.

“It is finished.”
“Father into your hands I commend my spirit.”
